How bouquets are made
Creating a flower arrangement is not just a job. Floristry is a real art, in which only a few achieve the highest mastery. When creating bouquets, it is important not only to have appropriate knowledge about the compatibility and symbolism of flowers, but also to intuitively understand what flowers go together in a bouquet, and what impression they create in certain cases.
Principles of creating flower arrangements
To collect beautiful bouquets that can convey exactly the emotions that the sender intends, it is important to follow the following principles:
- Determining the shape of the bouquet. Modern compositions can be classic round, asymmetrical, cascading, etc. At the same time, it is important to determine the focus of attention, which will become the central part of the bouquet, as well as maintain proportions and size ratios.
- Achieving color harmony. Bouquets can be created based on contrast, monochrome or analog harmony (using adjacent colors in a color scheme). It is also possible to create color accents in the amount of one or several bright colors.
- Keeping the rhythm. When creating a bouquet, smoothness and consistency are important. Compositions with repeating elements, colors or textures look harmonious.
- Equilibrium. Bouquets can be symmetrical or asymmetrical. In the first case, the sides of the composition mirror each other, and in the other, they are located at different levels and in different directions. It is always important that the composition is balanced.
- Using the principle of contrast. Contrast can be created in many ways. This can be a combination of small and large buds, or a choice of contrasting colors in combination with calm shades.
- Taking into account the functionality of the bouquet. The purpose of the composition is of enormous importance when composing it. These can be bright and festive bouquets for loved ones, solid business compositions, funeral bouquets, etc. At the same time, any bouquet should remain practical so that the recipient can comfortably hold it in his hands.
- Decoration. How to decorate a bouquet, and how to choose packaging for a bouquet, are two important questions that need to be answered in order for the composition to become complete. It is important that any decorative elements not only match the bouquet, but also match the occasion.
Most often it is important to consider how many flowers are in one bouquet. For festive occasions, it is customary to select an odd number of stems, while for mourning events an even number of buds is presented. The exception is luxury class compositions, for example, bouquets of 100 or more roses. In addition, it is worth taking into account the nationality of the recipient, since different cultures have different traditions regarding the number of flowers in a bouquet.
Where and how do you get ideas for bouquets?
When creating bouquets, it is important to take into account current trends and have a source of inspiration. Most often, the following are used to develop original ideas:
- various areas of culture and art (florists are inspired by paintings, sculptures and various historical styles);
- fashion trends (current trends in the choice of shades, textures and designs);
- exhibitions and competitions in the field of floristry (such events introduce new technologies, styles and materials, allow you to experiment with something new);
- holidays and events (seasonal events have inspired many arrangements, offering luxurious New Year, Christmas, Easter and other bouquets with themed elements);
- observation of nature (different seasons and delightful landscapes created by nature itself provide a vast field for creativity, offering ideal combinations of colors and shapes).
Of course, when creating bouquets, it is equally important to be guided by your own feelings and preferences. Only in this case will the composition come to life and give sincere emotions.
