   Celtic Holiday Halloween or the night before the Day of All Saints are celebrated annually on the night of November 31 to November 1. Tribes living in the territory of present-day Ireland, Scotland and England are divided into two seasons - winter and summer, and October 31 is the last day of the year. Traditionally, on the night of October 31 to November 1, evil spirits came into the world of people. To protect themselves from them, it was decided to wear terrible costumes.

   In the XIX century, many Irish, Scots and British emigrated to the New World. The feast was moving with them, and to this day, to a large extent, Halloween is celebrated in the United States and Canada. And the real capital of the holiday were New York and Los Angeles.

When the fifth died, he also did not fall into his paradise. Jack was forced to wand on the ground in anticipation of the Day of Judgment, covering the road with a slice of coal that he put into an empty pumpkin head. Thus, Jack's lamp was considered a lantern in the Celtic tradition, helping the souls to find a way to purgatory.

   Now it is believed that if a lantern of pumpkin in the form of an evil man puts on the threshold of his house - he drives away evil spirits.
